Watching this trailer put a couple of thoughts into my head.
First, I loved the animation and the aesthetic of the trailer. But, having said that, there’s a completely separate issue at hand.
At first I was pretty psyched about the idea of a to-do app that turns your daily grind into an RPG. There’s something interesting in that idea.
However, half way through the trailer I thought to myself that if you are someone who needs this type of motivation to get anything done, then you probably need to reevaluate why getting things done is so hard for you.
And, once you figure out why you are having a hard time doing the things you need to do as a grown-up, then decide what you can do about making those things happen so that you can spend your leisure time doing whatever you like, including playing RPGs if that’s your thing.
Now, I realize that for a small percentage of people out there, what they need to do to make all that happen is to purchase EpicWin so that they can level up their paperwork mage or whatever.
But, something tells me that they were probably already were doing that in some fashion before this app came out, and bets are even that those same people have never kissed a lady, let alone gotten any hand-to-bare breast action.
But, you know, the design of the app is awesome, so I’m guessing it’ll do pretty well. How many people actually use it once buying it will be interesting to see.
the ROCKS GLASS is one of those fancy-schmancy Tumblr sites that happens to be curated by Kansas City-based creative generalist Jeremy Fuksa.
“Creative generalist” sounds like an aggrandized term. It is. But, it rolls off the tongue much easier than Designer, Developer, Writer, Broadcaster, Filmmaker, Speaker, Musician, Photographer and Attention Whore. Plus, it looks way cooler on a business card.
The author wishes to acknowledge that there are bare wires laying about. Please take care not to trip on them.
