How To Be Creative (OR: How Can I Possibly Do Justice To This Subject In One Hour?) on Vimeo (via Vimeo)
Here is the video from my guest lecture at the University of Missouri School of Journalism on November 20th. I addressed the Principles of Strategic Communication class on the subject of creativity, most specifically HOW to do creative work.
This was a really fun lecture to give (albeit just the tip of the iceberg for such a vast topic), and I think that I’ve now got the basis for another presentation that I could give to a number of groups.
I had to fix the audio because I sat the camera right next to the projector fan. While listening to the audio, it’s no wonder I woke up the next day feeling crappy. You can practically hear the virulence in the air with all the coughing.
In the interest of time, I cut the Q&A off the end of this video, but am considering releasing it as a separate, audio-only download. There were some really good questions that got asked that day that I think are worth sharing.
Enjoy the video, and tell me where I’m full of shit.
the ROCKS GLASS is one of those fancy-schmancy Tumblr sites that happens to be curated by Kansas City-based creative generalist Jeremy Fuksa.
“Creative generalist” sounds like an aggrandized term. It is. But, it rolls off the tongue much easier than Designer, Developer, Writer, Broadcaster, Filmmaker, Speaker, Musician, Photographer and Attention Whore. Plus, it looks way cooler on a business card.
